The purpose of the Web Turret is to let people have a shot at controlling a robotic airsoft turret that shoots AirSoft bb’s at high rates of speed. The user will have to shoot and hit the designated targets to score points. The highest scoring shooters will be placed on our high score list. Unfortunately we will not beable to provide this realistic game for free. A price is not currently set for a single shooting session, but we will make it fairly cheap to shoot a few hundred rounds at our interactive gallery. The AirSoft gun being used is a metal electric M-16 that shoots at 450FPS on Semi Auto & Full Auto modes. It’s a pretty accurate gun, it had a blow back feel to it that I disabled to make less recoil on the turret system. The airsoft turret system will need to Pan & Tilt at least 3-4 pounds of weight, maybe even more with a custom hopper system.

The turret won’t look like the picture above, but I thought it was a cool looking gun that maybe one day we could replicate. For now, our turret will be plain and simple, exposing all its inner workings for spectators to gaze at. We hope one day to steer our research into mobile turrets that interact with each other, creating a arena type shooting game with your buddies. The ideas are endless, I want to base a game in a environment similar to Dust 2 from Counter Strike. Of course that is in the works but will be our next project after setting up the shooting gallery. We will have to see how far our Arduino’s will take us, it should be a fun journey.
